We need tutors

Reliable quality tuition

How do I apply to become a tutor?

Wey Tutors welcomes applications from suitably qualified people to join our enthusiastic team of tutors. Prospective applicants should live within, or within easy reach of, the county of Surrey.  Various pieces of legislation require us to check identities, the right to work in this country and any criminal records.  We also take up references from people who know you well. The procedure is best explained by the flow chart below.

What qualifications do I need?

To tutor from KS1 to GCSE a degree or Certificate of Education, together with some experience of teaching, or tutoring, at the appropriate level, is the normal qualification
For higher levels and for specialised coaching experience teaching at these levels would be a requisite.  EFL tutors should have a TEFL or TESOL qualification and some experience teaching the language.  Foreign language tutors need to be fluent in the language(s) they offer.

These are general requirements and we are prepared to consider any representations.

Who will employ me?

All our tutors are self-employed and make their own arrangements with clients. The fees charged are regulated by Wey Tutors. The agency does not charge tutors for services provided but does charge clients a fee.

What are the fees?

The fees charged to clients are set out in the Schedule of Fees.  Tutors collect their own fee and Wey Tutors’ fee. The agency fee is then remitted to the agency at the end of the month on a Return form which we provide.
